Why it matters
The correct ratio of intake air to fuel in direct injection petrol engines is essential for maximum power. Deposits building up in the intake manifold and on the intake valves increase exhaust emissions, increase fuel consumption and reduce engine power.
If your vehicle has higher fuel consumption, a poorer response to the accelerator pedal or you feel a loss of power, intake decarbonisation is recommended. To keep the engine running smoothly, we recommend repeating preventive intake decarbonisation of direct injection petrol engines every 24,000 km.

Because of the direct injection technology, where petrol is injected straight into the combustion chamber, any cleaning product added to the fuel system does nothing about deposits in the intake tract and especially on the intake valves. To keep the intake and intake valves in perfect condition, preventive intake decarbonisation is recommended every 24,000 km.
Deposits accumulating on the intake valves prevent them from closing fully, so the wrong ratio of intake air and fuel enters the combustion process. The result is incomplete combustion and increased emissions.
Deposits accumulating in the intake and combustion chamber make the combustion process imperfect, which shows up as higher fuel consumption.
Products used
Removes heavy oil and fuel deposits from valve seats and from the air intake system of direct injection engines. Applied directly into the intake using the BG Platinum Fuel Service Supply Tool, it restores fuel economy and engine power and reduces harmful exhaust emissions.
BG 44K® Fuel System Cleaner
BG 44K is designed for effective and safe removal of carbon deposits from the combustion and injection system of petrol engines. It is added to the fuel and offers maximum protection for direct injection engines (GDi, TSi, FSi and similar). It is safe for engines with a particulate filter. It cleans the entire fuel system including injectors, valves, lambda sensor, fuel filter and combustion chamber. It restores injection system performance, reduces fuel consumption, supports smooth running and reduces vibration.
How it works
BG intake decarbonisation for direct injection petrol engines keeps your engine in perfect condition for as long as possible.
BG 44K is added to a full fuel tank.
BG Platinum Air Intake, Valve & Combustion Chamber Cleaner is filled into the BG Platinum Fuel Service Supply Tool, the unit used for intake decarbonisation.
The BG Platinum Fuel Service Supply Tool is connected to the intake using an adapter.
The engine is brought up to operating temperature.
The BG Rev-It unit is installed to raise the engine speed automatically to 3,500 rpm every 45 seconds.
The intake decarbonisation process runs for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
After the decarbonisation process the engine is switched off and the unit disconnected.
The engine is started again and left running at idle for 30 minutes so that all components of BG Platinum Air Intake, Valve & Combustion Chamber Cleaner evaporate.
Fault codes are cleared from the engine control unit.
